The SAK employee rights advisory service for immigrants advises employees of foreign origin with questions or problems concerning their employment. This free service is open to all and does not require trade union membership.
To apply for the strike allowance, fill in the strike allowance application, which will be handed to the contact person designated by the local chapter (the local chapters will inform on whether the strike allowance application can be submitted by email or paper). An application for a strike allowance should not be sent directly to the union office.
The strike at Posti, the government owned postal services company is set to escalate. The reason for this strike is the employer's decision to force some 700 Posti employees into another collective agreement.
Posti has decided that its subsidiary Posti Palvelut Oy will not collect 1.11. onwards PAU’s membership fees for parcel sorters. Posti thus seeks to prevent as many parcel sorters as possible from staying as PAU’s members, and thus PAU would not be able to defend the parcel sorters in the ongoing collective labor agreement negotiations.
The Finnish Post and Logistics Union PAU’s board has decided to take collective action to combat Posti’s collective labor agreement shopping and the deteriorating of wages and conditions of employment. The strike will begin in the mail delivery, handling and transportation jobs on Monday, November 11, 2019 at 6:00 am and will end on Sunday, November 24, 2019 at 00.00. The Finnish Post and Logistics Union PAU is calling for extensive strikes against Posti. Mail delivery, handling and transportation will be on strike for two weeks in November unless a solution is found in the collective labor agreement negotiations and in the situation concerning parcel sorters. The strike begins on Monday 11.11. at 06:00 and ends on Sunday 24.11. at 24:00. The strike concerns about nine thousand workers. PAU will announce further industrial actions later if necessary.
