SAK trade union movement launches joint voter activation campaign

The Central Organisation of Finnish Trade Unions (SAK) and its affiliated trade unions have launched a joint campaign to boost voting activity among working people in the spring parliamentary elections.

PAU to stage a sympathy strike to support industrial action by AKT road haulage workers

The Finnish Post and Logistics Union PAU is to stage a sympathy strike on the loading and unloading of Posti’s and Transval Logistics Oy’s trucks and trailers. The sympathy strike will begin on Thursday 16 February at 00.00 and end on Tuesday 21 February at 24.00 unless AKT has reached a settlement on wage increases and work conditions in the road haulage sector before then.

Major rise in requests to SAK for employment advice

Enquiries to the SAK employee rights advisory service increased by more than a quarter last year compared to 2021, rising from 417 to 526. Many of these contacts came from people who had fled to Finland from Ukraine and other conflict zones.

The Transport Workers’ Unemployment Fund will merge with Open Unemployment Fund, A-kassa as of 1 January 2023. The information regarding Transport Workers’ Unemployment Fund’s members‘ allowance informaton and the membership register information will be transferred to the Open Unemployment Fund’s information system during the last two weeks of December.
