Posti has decided that its subsidiary Posti Palvelut Oy will not collect 1.11. onwards PAU’s membership fees for parcel sorters. Posti thus seeks to prevent as many parcel sorters as possible from staying as PAU’s members, and thus PAU would not be able to defend the parcel sorters in the ongoing collective labor agreement negotiations. The actions of Posti are not surprising as they continue the personnel policy that postal workers are already familiar with.
Posti’s actions will not lead to termination of parcel sorters membership to PAU. Each member can pay the membership fee to PAU themselves. During November, we will send parcel sorters more information on how to pay their membership fee. Membership will not be interrupted because of the employer’s actions, that is to say, the parcel sorters who are members of PAU and wish to remain members of PAU may continue to be members of PAU.
And, of course, in the negotiations, we will do everything we can to change this employer decision on how to pay membership fees so that in the future the fees will be paid by the employer and no one would have to pay the membership fees themselves.
