Members have a wide
range of benefits
PAU has taken a Federation Insurance for its members. It includes cover for accidents and travel during leisure time. The information about the insurance is printed on the membership card, which also acts as a travel insurance card.
The one insured are the working and unemployed members, who reside permanently in Finland more than six months per year, whose permanent residence is in Finland and who are covered by the Health Insurance Act. The members that are on job alternation leave or receiving a Training Allowance are compared as unemployed and therefore covered.
The pensioners are not covered by the insurance as neither are the ones who have not paid their membership fees. Part-time pensioners and the ones on Rehabilitation Allowance are also insured.
If a member has an acceptable reason for not working and not paying the membership fees, they can still be insured. Reasons can include sick leave, job alternation leave, training allowance, maternity-, paternity-, parental- or study leave.
The membership is defined according to the bylaws of the federation and the member association. If needed, the union can confirm that in the case of an accident, the indemnitee was covered by the insurance.
The insurance cover is tied to being a member of the union. If a member resigns or is expelled from the union, the insurance cover ends immediately. When a member retires, the insurance cover ends at the end of that year.
Remember, union members get significant discounts from If insurances. If you’re taking out a home or a car insurance, remember to mention your membership.
