Strike instructions for handling and sorting jobs

The Finnish Post and Logistics Union PAU’s board has decided to take collective action to combat Posti’s collective labor agreement shopping and the deteriorating of wages and working conditions. The strike will begin in the handling and sorting jobs on Sunday, September 1, 2019 at 10 pm and will end on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at 00.00. The strike does not prevent work related to the health and safety of citizens.

During the strike, the following must be taken into account in mail handling:

• The strike covers Ulkomaan Posti, Vantaan logistiikkakeskus, Liedon lajittelukeskus, Seinäjoen lajittelukeskus, the sorting operations in Jyväskylä, Lahti and Lappeenranta, as well as the post centers in Helsinki, Kuopio, Tampere and Oulu.
• PAU has put sorting and handling work on strike. The strike applies to all workers, including temporary agency workers!
• Employees do not do work that has been put on strike.
• If your shift has started on Sunday before 10 pm, you will stop working at 10 pm and leave the workplace when the strike starts.
• Return to work normally on Thursday. The night shift between Wednesday and Thursday will not begin until 00:00 on Thursday, 5 September.
• Any work not done during the strike is not the responsibility of the employee because the strike is a union action for which the union takes responsibility.
• The strike does not cover, for example: laboratory samples, Finnish Red Cross blood transports, and meal transports.
• The chief shop steward of the area must be notified immediately if the employer threatens or coerces employees to perform work that has been put on strike.

• PAU pays a strike allowance of 67 € per strike day, after taxes 51.70 € will be paid to members on strike.
