If you cannot get to the workplace due to the public transport strike

Buses, trains, trams and subways will mainly not run due to strikes on Thursday 14th December 2023. Those employees who rely on public transport and who are not part of PAU’s own strike (delivery), have asked what to do if they cannot get to work.

The employee has an obligation to try to get to the workplace despite the public transport strike. Ask your employer about the possibility of either changing your work shift or taking flexible time off or a holiday on Thursday. Using a taxi to come to work is such an expensive option that the employer cannot require it from the employee.

If none of these methods work out, then the day is an unpaid absence for you. When access to work is prevented due to a public transport strike and the employee has tried to find a way to get to work, the employee cannot be given a warning or subjected to any other sanctions due to the absence.
