New collective agreement for Åland Post - agreement period 1 January 2023 – 31 December 2024

On 16 May 2023, a new collective agreement regarding Åland Post was concluded. The agreement will take effect retroactively from the beginning of the year and it will be valid until the end of 2024. Åland Post's collective agreement concerns also Axla.

The negotiations were long and challenging. However, we thank all parties that an amicable solution was finally reached, and that the employer was willing to make parental leaves equal.

Salary increases

Åland Post's salary increases follow PAU's other collective agreements and the chemical basic industry. The pay increases for 2023 consist of a percent increase and a lump sum, which will paid in May.

An across-the-board pay increase

As of 1 March 2023, salaries will be increased by a 2.2% across-the-board pay increase.

Lump sum 2023

A full-time employee is additionally paid a lump sum of 500 euros. Condition for the lump sum is that the person has been in a continuous employment relationship from 1 February 2023 until the payment date. If the employee has been in several fixed-term employment relationships during this time, a continuous employment relationship is considered to be a situation where there is no break of more than 7 days between employment relationships.

A lump sum is also paid if the employee is laid off, sick or on family leave.

For a part-time employee, a lump sum is paid in proportion to the actual hours worked during period between 1 May 2022 – 30 April 2023.

Salary increase 2024

Regarding salary increases in 2024, it was concluded that salaries will be increased by 3.5 percent from March 1, 2024.

Family leave

Terminological changes resulting from the family leave reform that entered into force on 1 August 2022 were made to Åland Post's collective agreement. The terms maternity leave, special maternity leave and paternity leave which were used in the old family leave model were replaced by the terms pregnancy leave, special pregnancy leave and parental leave.

In addition to this, equality between parents was increased by increasing the paid parental leave of the another parent from 6 weekdays to 32 weekdays. The paid days of the parent giving birth remain unchanged (72 weekdays = 40 paid pregnancy leave days + 32 paid parental leave days).
