Collective bargaining agreements

The collective agreement is an agreement on the minimum labour conditions made between the trade union and the employer’s association. The agreement is concluded for a fixed period of time, normally for one year or longer. It specifies the workers' and employer’s rights and obligations, such as pay, working hours, annual leaves, industrial peace, local bargaining, etc. The pay and other conditions set forth in the collective agreement are minimum conditions that must be heeded by the signatories. However, the workplaces are free to agree on more favourable terms or on the exemptions permitted under the collective agreement. More information on collective agreements is provided by your shop steward or Union office. The collective agreement must be available at all workplaces.
